Road Trip to the Grande Prairie Area

Hello everyone. Recently I made a road trip to Grande Prairie and area. From Calgary I went west to highway 93, through Banff National Park; the Icefields Parkway and through Jasper National Park. After an overnight stay in Hinton, I went south on highway 40 to Cadomin, Alberta. This is a great trip if it doesn’t snow 8 inches overnight. After returning to Hinton, dealing with clay filled rim issues, I followed the Rocky Mountains on highway 40 through Grande Cache and onto Grande Prairie. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate much during time there with heavy rains, low cloud and winds. Undaunted I did made some wonderful discoveries and got some photographs along the way. In Beaverlodge, Alberta they have a volunteer run Centennial Museum. The quality of the Centennial Museum’s exhibits easily competes with and I dare say, is better than any in this class. If you’re ever in this area, do yourself a favor and visit this gem! I’m sure this small community is very proud of the love and effort that the volunteers have clearly put into it.

From Beaverlodge I continued my quest for one of my many photographic passions namely old and abandoned buildings (especially barns). I have created a new Abandoned gallery on this website for these images . In Valhalla, Alberta I found an absolutely beautiful old abandoned barn which I have set as a featured image for this post. There’s something about these old barns that I really love. The craftsmanship and style of this old girl is to me simply astounding. I would appreciate you letting me know if you agree with me and if you know of a barn I should photograph? Please let me know by contacting me.

Because of the poor weather my plans to go west and south through Prince George didn’t happen. Instead I elected to return to Calgary. I experienced rain and torrential downpours making my way back. So now its time to get busy on the next road trip. By the way, I have updated images in my Birds, Landscapes, Macro, Misc, and Abandoned galleries. I hope that you like my new homepage image slideshow as well. If you wouldn’t mind sending me some feedback I would really appreciate it.

One final question should I remove the price list and e-commerce from my website? Let me know.

Stan
